Setting sail again…. finally.

It’s been over 2 1/2 months since my last post, and I’m somewhat saddened to say we haven’t gone anywhere in that time.  Please don’t get me wrong. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in the Bocas Del Toro area of Panama. Living in and enjoying this house has been wonderful.  Getting to know many of the people who have re-rooted here from various other parts of the world and spending some time with a few locals has been rewarding. But we stopped here to get some boat projects done, not to relocate. And it feels like if we don’t move on soon, we might as well relocate. In fact we’ve been here so long, Kylan got a job as a bar tender.

Yes I know he is only 16, but little stuff like that doesn’t matter here.

When we arrived here we had a very long list of projects for Stray Catz, and as we get ready to leave we have only a long list of projects.  At least the list consists of new and different items. We have accomplished much.  As we spend our last week here, Anna has been canning meats, sewing sun covers, downloading movies and is even hosting an online Passion Party for Jordan.  (You can check out her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/passionpartiesbyjordanbyrd) Anna is currently roasting and shelling cacao seeds so she won’t run out of chocolate.

Our plan is to leave this house Dec 1st. If the main salon door is finished (people have a more relaxed schedule around here) and all of our mail order items have arrived we will head out to sea and head toward the eastern end of the Caribbean side of Panama. More specifically the San Blas Islands. From what we have heard about and the pictures we’ve seen of this area, we are very excited to go.

We will spend Christmas in that area and sometime in January we will make our way back toward the canal. We hope to cross the canal in late January / early February. We will spend some time on the Pacific side of Panama before we head toward the Galapagos islands in Feb/March.

If all that goes as planned we will join a cruisers rally called The Pacific Puddle Jump and will continue across the Pacific ocean to some islands  in the S. Pacific. I’m still not sure if I’m excited or scared, but still plenty of time to back out if needed.  Anybody want to cross the Pacific with us?
